The Fish Net
A relaxed, local ham radio simplex net held every Thursday at 7:30 PM. We alternate between 6 meters (50.200 MHz USB) and 2 meters (146.500 MHz FM), giving everyone a chance to exercise their stations and have a friendly chat. The net is run by a primary net control station with the assistance of relay stations throughout the stations checked in. This will ensure we can have a larger audience participate. We would like to thank Jim (K1TT) for starting this Net and pushing us to operate 6 meters for the first time!

- Practice good net discipline and relay skills
- Check in with local operators and share updates
- Compare band conditions between 6m and 2m

One week we meet on 6 meters (50.200 MHz USB), the next on 2 meters (146.500 MHz FM), and so on. Listen for the Net Control announcement or check the calendar for which band is planned.

How to Join
1. Tune In
A few minutes before 7:30 PM, tune your radio to the band and frequency listed for that week. For 6m, use 50.200 MHz USB. For 2m, use 146.500 MHz FM.
2. Wait for Net Control
At 7:30 PM, Net Control will call the net and begin taking check-ins by area. Net Control will then ask for some stations to relay messages for further coverage.
3. Check In
When invited, give your call sign slowly and clearly, followed by your name and location. Example:
“This is [CALLSIGN], [Name] in [Location].”
4. Share Updates
After check-ins, Net Control will go down the list and invite brief comments: station reports, question of the night, etc.

- Listen first – avoid doubling with other stations.
- Wait to be acknowledged by Net Control before transmitting.
- Speak clearly, at a normal pace, and use plain language.
